Santa going at Jardim Zoológico

On the 3rd of December, watch Santa Claus arrive at the Zoo and meet Rodolfo, the latest calf.

Jardim Zoológico is dressed up to welcome Santa Claus and celebrate the first month of life for Rodolfo, a baby Burmese deer and the most recent birth at the Zoo.

Classified as “Endangered” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, IUCN, this species’ main threat is hunting for human consumption and obtaining the stems, a structure present in the male’s head that, in addition to defending the territory, allows allow them to compete for females during the mating season.

Due to the pressure to which the species is exposed, this birth brings hope in its recovery, and therefore, in order to celebrate it and mark the opening of the Christmas season, the Zoo presents its Christmas schedule that promises to make your visit even more special.

The arrival of Santa Claus and his elves takes place on Saturday, December 3rd, at 11am, in Baía dos Golfinhos. For the weekend, Santa Claus brings a bag filled with gifts in the form of environmental enrichment for the different species in the Zoo. This set of techniques, applied inside the facilities with the aim of encouraging the animals to carry out their natural behaviours, these days gain color and a smell of Christmas. Zebras, bears, lions, elephants, tigers and macaws are some of the species that, until Christmas Day, you will be able to observe in action.
