Pós-Parto nos Museus – Graça Lucena

The celebrated Latin citation “Mens sana in corpore sano” inspires the innovative program that will begin this spring in the Museum of Lisbon-Pimenta Palace and its gardens.

Developed in close collaboration between the Educational Service of the Museum of Lisbon and the physiotherapist Graça Lucena, who conceived the idea, this program associates the recovery of childbirth with a cultural experience in a seventeenth-century palace.

The three sessions of the program (with their own dynamics) take place in a group and in a comfortable and relaxed environment, encompassing a moment of revelation of stories of the city of Lisbon (which the Museum ends) and some exercises and recommendations suitable for the recovery of the mother, the baby and the family in general (without forgetting the father!).

Reasons to come:
To value the role of the material and intangible heritage of the museum as a therapy by itself. Check the importance of touching and massage the baby, improve your posture and fitness and learn to relax physically and psychologically. All this in a pleasant, curious and challenging space and guided by experienced professionals.

Program: Always on Wednesday in the morning. It can be extended in autonomous visit to the gardens beyond the set schedule.

Massage and Baby Development

Concerning an emblematic painting of the museum collection, motherhood is thought in comparison with other times and other mentalities. Conversations and reflections take place between the Palace rooms and the first floor terrace.
Let’s strengthen the emotional bonds between mother (or father) and baby, through touch and eye contact. Massage can also be used as a therapy to improve the baby’s digestive and respiratory function and contributes to its sensory, motor and cognitive development.

Destined to:
Preferably to Mothers and Babies – after the 1st month and until the 6th month. Exceeded the 6th month contact us

Limit number of participants: 10 pairs of mother/father & baby.
Note: Other members of the family may be included exceptionally. Mention this information at registration and wait for confirmation
