Cães e Gatos – Vernissage

Thursday, October 4th, 2018 @ 18:00 - 20:00

On World Animal Day, October 4, we inaugurated the temporary exhibition “Dogs and Cats”.
Come and meet her firsthand and bring your pet.

Whether they are contest cats or stray cats, guide dogs or search and rescue … in Portugal, there are more than two and a half million dogs and one million cats. They live in our homes and streets, in our imagination and even in the songs and proverbs we hear! We can cherish them, fear them or ignore them, but they have been with us for thousands of years. But what do we know for sure about them? How did they become so different from wild animals? How do you see, smell, hear, and feel the world? What emotions do they have? Can you communicate? How do we live with them? The new Pavilion of Knowledge temporary exhibition invites kids and adults to rediscover the dogs and cats we all think we know and explore their world. Prepare yourself: there may be some surprises …

The exhibition addresses several concepts related to morphology, genetics, ethology, evolution, history and the role of these animals in society.
