Celebration for 25th April – Liberation Day in Portugal
ON MONDAY 25/04 the schools are closed. On the 25th of April, Portugal celebrated the liberation from Salazar and the Estado Novo regime.The Revolution that brought that change is called Carnation revolution, and the music that it is connected with the event is Grândola, Vila Morena, which was aired as a signal to initiate the military coup. An initiative of the Parish Council of Penha de França and Gerador that, on the 14th and 15th of May, aims to provide the sharing of experiences between several generations in order to commemorate the beginning of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.
