THEMATIC WALK TO THE GARDENS AND PALÓN FRONTEIRA (in Portuguese and French)
“The Palace and its azulejos – iconography, mythology and allegory”
Thematic tour guided by Professor ANA PAULA REBELO CORREIA.
In the seventeenth century the decoration of a noble house and the design of the garden implied a whole decorative program that integrated diverse themes as histories of mythology, personifications and allegories. Through this “Walk” through the Palace and one of the rare Portuguese gardens of the seventeenth century that preserves until today its ceramic and sculptural decoration practically intact, one discovers the history of the palace, the particularities of the decoration in tile, the meaning of the images that constitute the decorative program.
