Democracy Café
Friday, February 15th, 2019 @ 09:00 - 11:00
FreeAs the political landscape is shifting around the world, younger generations have realised they need to be more engaged in politics, as it doesn’t represent their values.
Join us for a roundtable discussion around the opportunities and barriers for young people to participate in democracy today with Chief Executive of MLMS, Mete Coban – in partnership with the British Council.
Mete has founded the All-Party Parliamentary Group on a Better Brexit for Young People, contributed to the increase of turnout for young people at the 2017 UK General Elections, and received the UK Government’s National Democracy Change-Maker of the Year Award in 2018. The youngest ever elected Councillor in the London borough of Hackney, he is also Chair of the Skills, Economy & Growth Commission. Previously, he worked on the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s selection campaign, leading on youth engagement.
