DESCRIPTION:MACBAD is the third project in a series of shows by Teatro Praga (TP) dedicated to the newest arts and inspired by the masterpieces of English playwright William Shakespeare. This time\, TP throws himself into one of Shakespeare’s cursed plays\, «Macbeth»: the “Scottish play” whose most striking features are the presence of a trio of witches and their prophecies. \nIn this story\, the hero and villain Macbeth is called MacBad – was he not the real bad guy! – and it will be he who\, even trying to escape the prophecies of the three witches\, will play the role of fulfilling them. The spectator is the protagonist and also a gamer\, who guarantees that the story comes to an end. \nFor this\, the show uses mechanisms inspired by famous role-playing game systems\, such as Dungeons & Dragons and Game Centers. Produced by the Pavilion of Knowledge\, this exhibition takes place in the context of the International Decade for Action – Water for Sustainable Development and is part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. \nThe future with water depends on each one of us!

DESCRIPTION:It is true and well known that in any theater\, unusual and astonishing things happen\, sometimes inexplicable. At São Luiz\, shoes appear and disappear. And\, whenever they jump into the eye of those who see them\, it is to unveil stories of people who have passed through the Theater. They appear shy and if the noise is too much\, wind them up and give them the sole. There are those who have seen them in the foyer\, stage\, regie or audience\, in the hallway\, dressing rooms and even on the ceiling\, in the ticket office or in the elevator. Since the 2016/2017 season\, we’ve been offering the youngest (and not only…) this show-visit that unveils the stories of São Luiz. Traveling through various corners of the Theater\, we can come across the shoes of a wonderful French actress\, a very provocative Portuguese actor\, Mr. Luiz himself or the projectionist duck. Since the 2019/2020 season\, in a new version of Os Sapatos do Mr. Luiz\, the footprints of a famous futurist who manifested himself here were also joined\, as well as those of those who\, behind the scenes\, daily help to put all the standing spectacles. Which of these we will be fortunate enough to see only in the day will we know. \nMR. Check the calendar here\n\nUma casa para salvar o planeta (dos 6 aos 18 anos)\nAs alterações climáticas\, poluição\, extinção de espécies\, pobreza e simultaneamente excesso de recursos em partes diferentes do mundo\, tornam difícil pensar um futuro sustentável para o planeta Terra.\nNesta oficina\, cada grupo de participantes\, perante um problema mundial\, pensa uma casa\nautossuficiente. É preciso que a casa use os recursos locais existentes aliados à tecnologia. Uma casa que abre um ponto de vista para o mundo e tem um impacto positivo neste. Uma casa para salvar o planeta!\nConceção e orientação: Super Arquitecto\n_\nEntre janelas e paredes. O que sentimos? (dos 10 aos 15 anos)\nNesta oficina vamos utilizar as palavras e os sentimentos para explorar a nossa casa\, o quarto\, a sala e até mesmo o quintal. Na cidade e no campo\, entre janelas e paredes\, iremos projetar portas e tetos\, varandas e telhados\, e construir um espaço especial\, em pequena escala\, onde nos sentimos livres para sonhar e crescer. Mãos à obra!\nConceção e orientação: Orfeu Mini\n_\nCasa casca (dos 4 aos 12 anos)\nUm caracol\, um búzio\, uma concha\, a carapaça de uma tartaruga\, ou a casca de um ovo são tudo proteções naturais de tantos seres vivos às adversidades exteriores. Neste sentido o desafio impõe-se em criar uma casa casca que valorize a importância da casa como elemento de protecção do nosso corpo.\nConceção e orientação: FA Junior\n_\nExperiências Caseiras (dos 4 aos 12 anos)\nAs casas são jogos formais\, em que adicionamos pirâmides triangulares a cilindros estreitos\, colocamos uma esfera no centro de um conjunto de cubos\, multiplicamos prismas com diferentes bases e tantas cores subtraindo a monotonia do padrão de uma cidade.\nDepois podemos também “fazer” janelas na superfície dessas formas\, abrindo luz em grandes hexágonos\, milhares de círculos ou minúsculos quadrados…\nEsta é uma oficina para construir e experimentar as formas como se fossem as nossas casas\, transformando o habitar num jogo permanente de invenção e imaginação.\nExperimentar é conhecer e esta oficina é uma experiência caseira!\nConceção e orientação: Super Arquitecto\n_\nZOOM! Da casa à cidade (dos 6 aos 18 anos)\nSob o olhar de pequenos arquitetos\, partimos à descoberta do mundo da arquitetura.\nObservamos as diferenças das cidades\, entramos nos seus quarteirões\, descobrimos os bairros\, ruas\, praças e as casas e\, dentro das casas\, os quartos\, salas\, corredores\, portas…\nÀ medida que nos aproximamos ficamos dentro das coisas\, a distância transforma a dimensão\, altera as importâncias e relações.\nA cidade é feita de muitas casas\, mas dentro de uma casa pode haver uma cidade!\nA oficina é um exercício de escala e de observação das cidades a partir do interior da casa. Uma casa que olha para a cidade e tenta resolver o que vê à sua escala. This is followed by the Lisbon Botanical Garden\, in September\, with an audience of 100pax\, from 4:00 pm to sunset. Finally\, the Auditorium de Pedra will stage the Somersby Out Jazz in October from 3:00 pm until sunset. \, with capacity for 120 people. \nThe new edition of Somersby Out Jazz – which has Somersby as main Sponsor again – also has a new Sponsor\, See Tickets Portugal – official ticket office of Somersby Out Jazz. SUMMARY:Chapéus na Rua 2021
DESCRIPTION:The 6th edition of “Chapéus na Rua” – Lisbon’s Busking Festival returns to the streets of Lisbon. This open-access event\, produced by Corrente d’Arte Associação\, aims to promote street artists and street art\, styling itself as “The Lisbon Circus Festival”. \n\nBased on the concept of busking\, these street shows are inspired by the ancient tradition of theatre where there was more direct contact with the spectators in the center of the polis. The artists will perform their show and then pass around a hat for audience members to make a contribution\, depending on their opinion of the show and what they can afford. Passing round the hat serves to educate the audience in that it encourages spectators to value street performances and creates a democratic ticket office\, where each individual decides how much to give. Demonstrating the quality of street arts is another of the main objectives of this festival which will feature 19 Portuguese and foreign artists on its program.

SUMMARY:The Boat - Installation by Grada Kilomba - MAAT
DESCRIPTION:O Barco/The Boat is an installation by artist Grada Kilomba\, composed of 140 blocks that form the silhouette of the bottom of a ship and carefully draw the space created to accommodate the bodies of millions of Africans\, enslaved by European empires. In the Western imaginary\, a boat is easily associated with glory\, freedom\, and maritime expansion\, described as “discoveries” but\, in the artist’s view\, “a continent with millions of people cannot be discovered” nor “one of the longest and most horrendous chapters of humanity – Slavery – can be erased”. \nThis first large-scale installation by Grada Kilomba\, which stretches 32 meters along the Tagus river\, invites the audience to enter a garden of memory\, in which poems rest on burnt wooden blocks\, recalling forgotten stories and identities. What stories are told? Where are they told? How are they told? And told by whom? DESCRIPTION:This kids-focused art workshop takes its inspiration from contemporary artists who are directly inspired by nature\, including Andy Goldsworthy\, Ugo Rondinone\, Zander Olsen\, and Richard Long\, and integrates various natural materials found here in the gardens. \nThe workshop will start with an introduction to key works of art positioned alongside 4 separate areas of materials to encourage young hands to explore and create their own pieces.  Each child will have the chance to seek out their own materials for sculpting or painting\, work together to create a joint piece of art here in the garden\, or draw a still life using charcoal. \nTime & Date:  2pm\, Saturday 9th October\nDuration:  1.5 hours\nPrice:  €20 (non members)\, €6 (members)\nNote:  Children should be supervised by a parent

SUMMARY:The Boat - Installation by Grada Kilomba - MAAT - Live Performance
DESCRIPTION:O Barco/The Boat is an installation by artist Grada Kilomba\, composed of 140 blocks which form the silhouette of the bottom of a ship and carefully draw the space created to accommodate the bodies of millions of Africans\, enslaved by European empires. In the Western imaginary\, a boat is easily associated with glory\, freedom and maritime expansion\, described as “discoveries” but\, in the artist’s view\, “a continent with millions of people cannot be discovered” nor “one of the longest and most horrendous chapters of humanity – Slavery – can be erased”. \nThis first large-scale installation by Grada Kilomba\, which stretches 32 meters along the Tagus river\, invites the audience to enter a garden of memory\, in which poems rest on burnt wooden blocks\, recalling forgotten stories and identities. What stories are told? Where are they told? How are they told? And told by whom? These are questions that arise when entering this installation. \nGrada Kilomba inaugurates this work with a performance\, in three acts\, in which several generations of Afro-descendant communities are the central interpreters\, with the musical production of Kalaf Epalanga\, O Barco/The Boat becomes a place of acknowledgement\, a garden of memory and contemplation of the future.\nPerformance III\n17/10/2021\, 16.00
