SUMMARY:Jardins Abertos around Lisbon
DESCRIPTION:What happens when you bring together professionals working in gardening\, landscaping\, culture\, and sustainability? The answer: a festival in which Lisbon’s most enthralling gardens open their gates to the public\, all for free. \nThe very first edition\, which took place in May 2017\, consisted of a guided tour organized by a small but very passionate team. With only 80 places available\, over 3\,000 people had applied within the first 48 hours after launch. Ten gardens took part in the program\, with eight volunteer guides leading groups on foot on a route between Graça and Príncipe Real. \nIn 2018\, a partnership with the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (Lisbon City Council) allowed the project to expand. The number of gardens taking part grew to 23 and activities both educational and cultural were organized to suit all generations. More than 8\,000 members of the public were welcomed by a team of 30 volunteers. \nIn 2019\, the project received the Alto Patrocínio do Presidente da República (Grand Patronage of the President of the Republic) and\, with the support of the City Council\, for the first time\, the festival had two editions: one in Spring and one in Autumn. Growing naturally like a forest\, the festival had over 25\,000 participants in both seasons. \nIn 2020\, everything changed\, but that didn’t mean Spring was canceled. Forming part of the program for Lisbon’s year as European Green Capital\, both editions of Jardins Abertos [Open Gardens] took place across two consecutive weekends. The in-person program across the two editions was attended by more than 19\,000 participants\, while the virtual program drew an audience of over 200\,000.

DESCRIPTION:MACBAD is the third project in a series of shows by Teatro Praga (TP) dedicated to the newest arts and inspired by the masterpieces of English playwright William Shakespeare. This time\, TP throws himself into one of Shakespeare’s cursed plays\, «Macbeth»: the “Scottish play” whose most striking features are the presence of a trio of witches and their prophecies. \nIn this story\, the hero and villain Macbeth is called MacBad – was he not the real bad guy! – and it will be he who\, even trying to escape the prophecies of the three witches\, will play the role of fulfilling them. The spectator is the protagonist and also a gamer\, who guarantees that the story comes to an end. \nFor this\, the show uses mechanisms inspired by famous role-playing game systems\, such as Dungeons & Dragons and Game Centers. Since the 2016/2017 season\, we’ve been offering the youngest (and not only…) this show-visit that unveils the stories of São Luiz. Traveling through various corners of the Theater\, we can come across the shoes of a wonderful French actress\, a very provocative Portuguese actor\, Mr. Luiz himself or the projectionist duck. Since the 2019/2020 season\, in a new version of Os Sapatos do Mr. Luiz\, the footprints of a famous futurist who manifested himself here were also joined\, as well as those of those who\, behind the scenes\, daily help to put all the standing spectacles. Which of these we will be fortunate enough to see only in the day will we know. \nMR. Resulting from the support of CM Lisboa\, the Garantir Cultura Program and the partnership with the University of Lisbon\, the open-air music festival debuts at the Tropical Botanical Garden in Belém\, the Lisbon Botanical Garden in Príncipe Real and also in the Auditorium of Stone\, in Tapada da Ajuda. \nWith the aim of promoting a safe return to culture\, ensuring that all hygiene and safety measures are met\, the 14th edition of the festival features several national bands and DJs that promise to fill Lisbon with rhythm\, energy and good vibes. \nThe Tropical Botanical Garden in Belem will be the first place to receive the event\, every Sunday in August between 5:00 pm and until dusk\, with a maximum capacity of 268 people in seats. This is followed by the Lisbon Botanical Garden\, in September\, with an audience of 100pax\, from 4:00 pm to sunset. Finally\, the Auditorium de Pedra will stage the Somersby Out Jazz in October from 3:00 pm until sunset. \, with capacity for 120 people. \nThe new edition of Somersby Out Jazz – which has Somersby as main Sponsor again – also has a new Sponsor\, See Tickets Portugal – official ticket office of Somersby Out Jazz. See TicKets\, an international ticketing reference\, has had a local team in Portugal since 2019. \nThis edition\, given the current constraints\, will have a new format with seats\, maximum capacity and a 3€ ticket. NCS\, the company that organizes and produces the festival and See tickets\, decided to strengthen their support for the artistic sector\, donating the amount of the ticket to União Audiovisual\, a cultural and social association that was born during the pandemic to support technical professionals and cultural artists\, shows and events. \nThe doors will open one hour before the start of the concert. \nStarting from 6 YO Kids can access the event.

SUMMARY:Chapéus na Rua 2021
DESCRIPTION:The 6th edition of “Chapéus na Rua” – Lisbon’s Busking Festival returns to the streets of Lisbon. This open-access event\, produced by Corrente d’Arte Associação\, aims to promote street artists and street art\, styling itself as “The Lisbon Circus Festival”. \n\nBased on the concept of busking\, these street shows are inspired by the ancient tradition of theatre where there was more direct contact with the spectators in the center of the polis. The artists will perform their show and then pass around a hat for audience members to make a contribution\, depending on their opinion of the show and what they can afford. Passing round the hat serves to educate the audience in that it encourages spectators to value street performances and creates a democratic ticket office\, where each individual decides how much to give. Demonstrating the quality of street arts is another of the main objectives of this festival which will feature 19 Portuguese and foreign artists on its program.
