The weekend is close and everywhere Christmas decorations have started to appear like mushrooms in autumn. Have you already got in the Festive moods? If you haven’t this weekend there are already a bunch of events,  market and even Santa appearance that will help you get started with it. Or if you are not ready yet, a lot of events markets and workshop are awaiting you and your weekend. If you want to check the extensive list of events happening, you can click here.

If you are new in Lisbon or you just want some easy suggestion about what to do, here following are my itineraries for the weekend.

What do I suggest to do this weekend?

If Christmas is your thing and you want to get in the mood, I suggest you a cool workshop for kids and parents that will help you build your Advent calendar, a great tool to teach your kids skills like patience and calm, but also a great deal for them to get some more presents.

Last year we did this one in the picture above (sorry not the best quality) for Elio and he loved it and I’m planning to do one this year but I haven’t decided yet.

CHRISTMAS IS COMING : and Santa Claus is coming to town!

If you like local makers, and you want to get some presents from them you can try Popup Natal, where some Portuguese makers will sell their goods, plus if you go on Saturday you will get a 15% on the next day shopping: the event will close the 7th of December.

If meeting Santa Claus before everybody else is you season goal, don’t miss the Mercado Get zen | Christmas Edition on Saturday and Sunday a Palacio Pimenta: Santa will pass by, and if moms want to check the market by themselves, dads or relatives can bring the kids to Musica para Bebes, Saturday morning in the same building.

The new Museu das Crianças is throwing a nice Christmas themed event you should consider attending: you will also get the chance to visit their exhibition and also Santa will pass by there after his stop at the Mercado Get Zen,

PRINCIPE REAL

A lot is going on in this very nice and cozy neighborhood. My suggestion is to book a nice introduction to ballet + a museum tour and the remaining parent can book a nice workshop about Babywearing at Organii inside Embaixada if you have, or plan to have, a small kid that would so much benefit of being properly carried around by momma or daddy. If you having another baby it’s not your thing, you can still stop at Organii to buy some biodegradable bamboo nappies or, you could go looking for some organic, tasty and local veggies at the weekly Organic Farm market in Praça do Principe Real.

If you are up for some more shopping, please take a look at my little guide about shops for Mom and babies in Principe Real.

You can think about having a healthy brunch at Cafe Naked, or a nice steak at Atalho Real, inside the Embaixada or go on try the new Early bird Egg-perience in Rua Nova da Piedade, where they have a nice garden and also a nice corner for the little ones.

After lunch, while kids sleep one of you has a lot to choose between Japanese plants Kokedama workshop at A Sociedade, or Oficina de Caça-Sonhos em Macramé c/ Casulo at O apartmento, both very promising and amazing DIY workshop to learn how to make amazing Christmas presents for the coming season.

ALCANTARA – ALGES – AJUDA

Would you like to go out of the city center to explore other neighborhood? Go West to the A-trilateral neighborhood, Alcantara, Alges, and Ajuda.

First stop at Alcantara at the Lx Rural, take a coffee and a croissant at WISH Concept Store & Slow Coffee House or get lost in the amazing bookshop Ler Devagar, one of the nicest bookshops of the world according to this chart. If you have time for a workshop, Vania from Two Hands Studio will be at Fi.ca. Oficina Creativa to teach the very famous Punch needle technique.

Then it’s time to dedicate to your kids: first, go and check the first Dog Summit in Lisbon, that takes place exactly at LX Factory. Then, at Lu.ca Teatro Luis Camoes, you will be able to see a nice series of animated shorts about Diversity and Racism, two very important topics to explore with the new ones. If you have a little one, you could try Balbucia – Teatro para bebés, keeping in mind that it might be sold out this weekend, but if your kids are older, there are two nice sewing workshop in Oeiras, a bit further then Alges.

Ready to explore this weekend possibilities? Check them all and choose what suits you best: or enjoy your sofa, that’s also fine for me.

Have a wonderful weekend and let me know how did it go here in the comments.
